This was the question the German team of #I_make_AI asked themselves. At the UN Summit “AI for Good” in 2024, we met Vlad and Tinnix from the Milan-based startup “Hidoba Research.” They impressed our students with the humanoid robot “Captcha,” which was allowed to appear at the event as a very unfriendly character. After Captcha’s first visit to the #I_make_AI team in December 2024, we simulated various discussions moderated by the robot as a substitute for a human teacher – resulting in worldwide attention.

During its second visit to Delmenhorst, Captcha completely took over the role of the examining teacher in simulations of oral high school graduation exams. Captcha created the expected outcomes, handled the legal aspects, recorded and evaluated the presentations, and had self-selected exam questions answered in discussions with the students. The conclusion from the nearly 20 exams: Captcha can replace one of the three teachers who make up the examination board in Lower Saxony – particularly with regard to the documentation and a purely subject-matter-based assessment proposal.
