Making physical education lessons fairer, more equitable, and more motivating – that’s the goal of SkillFIT. Alica Böttjer, Gabriel Zaiton, Nuria Boßmann-Otero, Nikita Wittmer (grade 12) and Kamil Adamowicz (grade 11) have been working on an AI-based implementation of this vision for six months. The quintet is also part of the #I_make_AI team.

With their concept, the quintet won the German final of the Samsung Challenge “Solve for Tomorrow” in September 2025, which provided them with valuable contacts and secured support from Samsung and Ekipa during a six-month “Impact Phase.” Another surprise for the team was their qualification for the next stage of the competition. Last week, Alica Böttjer and Gabriel Zaiton had the opportunity to pitch their AI-supported analysis of physical education lessons again: at the European final of the competition in Milan, Italy, for which 10 European nations had qualified. Alica and Gabriel immediately impressed the jury with their idea, even when presenting in English. During the Q&A session, one jury member remarked, “Where were you when I was a student? I could have used you.” Five hours after their pitch, SkillFIT celebrated another trophy: the “Top 5 Europe” award (no ranking was created among these). SkillFIT is thus one of the 5 best future-oriented ideas selected from thousands of submissions. Willms warmly congratulates the founders of SkillFIT! We are impressed by your unique success! Exciting weeks and months lie ahead for SkillFIT, filled with new travel destinations and further networking. Because in Milan, it became clear: the idea of AI-supported analysis of individual learning progress in physical education is not only proving highly successful in Germany.
